Auto Update
Deer
Hunter 3's Auto-Update feature is designed to download the latest
patch for your version. The initial release version of Deer Hunter
3 was 1.0. The latest version is 1.31. Therefore, if you are running
version 1.0 and wish to use Auto-Update, you will need to run it
three times. If you are running version 1.1 , you would need run
Auto-Update three times, and so on. If you choose to manually install
the patch, you can simply choose the patch version that is right
for you. If you are running version 1.0, a manual download is reccomended.
To use Auto
Update:
- Connect to
the Internet is whatever manner is normal for you. It is not necessary
to launch your web browser or any other web software.
- Make sure
the Deer Hunter 3 CD is in your CD drive, and Run the game as
normal.
- At the opening
screen, select 'Season' from the Main Menu.
- At the next
screen, select 'Settings' located on the right side of the screen
under 'Hunter Profile'.
- The next
screen is the 'Options' menu. Select the first button 'Game Options'.
- A window
should now appear on the right. Press the button labeled 'Internet
Update'.
- The program
will then ask whether you are connected to the Internet, select
'Yes' and follow the on screen instructions.
- Note: When
using Auto-Update, the program will automatically download the
appropriate patch file for your type of install. After it is finished,
you will need to install the patch and follow the directions.
Always read the readme file that comes with the patch you download.

It
is important to note that if you wish to play Multi-Player Deer
Hunter 3, your version and the version of the person(s) you
are playing with MUST match. In other words, a user with version
1.0 cannot play a game with a user running version 1.1 and vice
versa. |
Manual Download
You also have
the option of downloading and installing the correct patch for your
situation manually. When
downloading the patch, it is important to know which patch you need,
as there are two to choose from. One is for users with FULL installs
of the game, and the other is for users with MINIMUM installs. (Version
1.31 is for both types.)
Also, make certain
to choose the patch version that is right for you. Different patches
have been made available for users based on what version of the
game you are currently running. To learn what version you have,
look on the 'credits' screen in the game.
The patch is
a self-extracting EXE. Once you have downloaded it, simply double-click
or Run the file to begin the patch process. Follow the on-screen
instructions.
